International Executive School is thrilled to shine a spotlight on PhD student Thazin Win, whose research took centre stage at the Asian Conference on the Social Sciences (ACSS2026).
Working alongside her PhD supervisor, Prof (Dr.) Zina Kyriakou, Thazin’s research turns its attention to a group that is too rarely at the centre of entrepreneurship scholarship: single mothers in Myanmar who are building livelihoods and finding agency in the midst of profound political and economic instability. Her work asks difficult questions about resilience, identity, and what success truly means when survival is the starting point, and it offers answers that are both academically rigorous and deeply moving.
Presenting at an international conference of this calibre is no small feat, and Thazin’s contribution was a proud moment for everyone at International Executive School. It speaks to the kind of bold, socially meaningful research that we believe has the power to influence policy, challenge assumptions, and make a real difference in people’s lives.

We are also eagerly anticipating the publication of the full article by IAFOR in the coming months.
International Executive School congratulates Thazin on this wonderful milestone and looks forward to all that is still to come.
