We’re proud to announce that Captain Aung Myin Moe, PhD candidate at International Executive School, recently presented his research at The Asian Conference on Education (ACE) hosted by the International Academic Forum (IAFOR) in Japan.

His presentation, titled “Exploring TikTok as a Learning Resource in Maritime Higher Education: Educator Perspectives and Practices,” examined how maritime educators worldwide are using TikTok’s short-form video format to teach complex maritime procedures, safety protocols, and industry knowledge to the next generation of seafarers. Working alongside colleagues Thazin Win (MBA), Min Min Tun (MBA), and his supervisor Prof (Dr.) Zina Kyriakou, Capt. Aung conducted one of the first empirical investigations into social media integration within the traditionally conservative field of maritime education.

The research offers valuable insights for institutions worldwide considering digital pedagogical innovations and highlights the quality of scholarship being produced at International Executive School.

The IES community looks forward to reading the full article when it is published in February.

Congratulations to Captain Aung and the entire research team on this achievement!
